Our Research

Our institute is interested in molecular mechanisms responsible for proper development of mammals.

The primary object for the analysis is the mouse. Special emphasis is given to neurogenesis and limb formation during development. Here, analysis of specific proteins in cilia function is our major focus.  In addition, we are interested in the analysis of processes controlling homeostasis and metabolism in adults.
Unproper control of any of these four processes can cause diseases similar to those described for humans. Therefore, our research in the mouse can be considered as a model for human diseases.

The kind of human diseases we are currently investigating are known under the names:
- ciliopathy - obesity - atherosclerosis - degeneration
